Frequently Asked Questions
The Groomer gets to have a good look over the whole of your dog, looking out for any problems or conditions as they go. Your dog will benefit greatly from being handled and will feel much better with a clean, knot free, well-groomed and managed coat, which promotes healthy skin and coat. Groomers have often been the first people to find any problems or conditions which may go unnoticed.
You can bring your puppy for short introductions as soon as they have had their vaccinations. The sooner the better so that they get used to being handled by a stranger and to the Grooming environment.
This depends on your Dog and will be discussed with you when you drop them off, but it greatly depends on size, coat condition and behaviour. I aim to work at a pace your Dog is comfortable with.
I will not groom a Dog that is in Season, firstly it may be uncomfortable for her, secondly, I do groom entire males and although your female would not be in The salon with them, The scent of her would still be in the Salon and it can change the behaviour of the Male. In a worst case scenario even the most placid Males have shown signs of Aggression when Females in season have been nearby. A female usually comes into Season twice a year for around 3 weeks so hopefully you can plan her grooms around these times.
If all has gone well your Dog can be groomed between 10-14 days after their operation but it is always best to seek Veterinary advice.
This would be a question for your Vet to answer, written proof from your vet maybe requested
No, as it could cause damage to the puppies and Mother or even miscarriage. It is advisable to get your Dog groomed before a mating takes place or after the puppies have been weaned.
I can groom your Dog if it has fleas, but I would book an appointment at the end of the day so that my Salon could be treated before any dogs come in the next day. There will be an extra charge for flea treatments used.
It would depend on what treatment you are going to use, always follow the manufacturers guidelines or ask your Vet for advice.
I do not allow owners to stay whilst their Dog is being Groomed, a Dogs behaviour can change whilst the owner is there. My focus needs to be on your Dog 100%. My Insurance cover may also be invalidated.
Usually I book Dogs in so there is a gap between Dogs, on the odd occasion a Dog maybe waiting to be collected if the owner is slightly late, however I do emphasise that I am a one to one Dog Groomer and like owners to collect and drop off their Dogs promptly. Let me Know if your Dog does not get on with other Dogs and I will make sure no other dogs are around at the same time.
I use shampoos which contain no artificial products and have never had a problem with reactions to date, although that is not to say it would never happen. Also, in some areas, your Dog will be clipped close to the skin and this can make them feel a bit strange so they may start licking themselves or scooting their bottom on the floor, this is normal but they should not be allowed to do it as they can irritate their skin causing it to become red and sore. My Salon is hoovered, disinfected and cleaned daily, all equipment is sterilised daily and the Salon is treated at least weekly for any parasites such as fleas.
Yes but this will not affect the price of your Dogs Groom.
It is important that I have you and your vets contact details, also I need as much information about your Dog as possible. I also need to record your Grooming requirements etc for your Dog. None of your information is passed onto anyone else and is stored in a secure location.
Yes, please get in touch to discuss further.
